Right at the beginning of their long and dangerous journey, the appalling drought drives the desperate animals to look for water. A swimming pool in the housing estate perks them up again, but their exuberance wakes up the humans and the house cat. Fox leads the hasty escape, but the exhausted animals face a new danger on the spot: a main road with frightening rush-hour traffic, which claims the lives of adder and toad by a hair's breadth. Somehow they all manage to get safely to the other side.
