It all begins in the north of France. Suddenly Ali (Matthias Schoenaerts) finds himself with a five-year-old child in his care. Sam is his son, but he hardly knows him. Without money or friends, Ali seeks refuge with his sister Anna (Corinne Masiero) on the Côte d'Azur. She puts the two of them up in her garage and takes the child under her wing. When a fight in a nightclub, where he works as a bouncer, gets out of hand, Ali makes the acquaintance of Stéphanie (Marion Cotillard). Stephanie trains killer whales at Marineland. When one of her shows ends in tragedy, a late-night phone call brings them together again. Stephanie has lost her legs and several illusions. Ali begins to help her, in his own way and without pity. And they both find their way back to life...
